Good Luck, Daddy!
Jerrod took off for Iowa today. He has an interview there for a Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery faculty position at the University of Iowa. I'm not sure how to feel about the whole situation. We would LOVE to be closer to our Iowa friends and family. However, we have grown to love the opportunities that come with living in a big city like Denver and Pittsburgh. So many of the things our children have been able to do are things Jerrod and I didn't do until we were in college or later. It has truly been an amazing experience! However, being closer to family would be priceless. I guess we'll find out in the next several months!

The Risk I Take
Going through old pictures on the computer is like...opening a white elephant present?! You never know what's going to be lurking in that unopened box! Here is what I typically find...
I'm scrolling along
Still scrolling along...
Remembering good times...
When BAM! I'm hit with something MUCH worse than this, but I held back for viewers with weak stomachs!

Typically I find pictures with someone's eye hanging out or a finger hanging on by a vein! As repulsive as they are, they serve as a reminder of what an amazing husband I have! Jerrod has learned so much in the last 7 years or residency. He is already making an incredible impact in so many people's lives with the operations he is able to perform. ( As I write this at 10:15pm, he's off to the hospital to "fix" someone!) I know he hates to hear it, but I am proud of him! (Just try to keep your "blood and guts" pictures away from our family memories!)

Jerrod was in a car accident Sunday night after getting called in to the hospital earlier that evening. Luckily no one was hurt, and it wasn't Jerrod's fault! He was heading home around 10:00pm, and the opposing car failed to stop at his red light, causing Jerrod's right front end to hit the other cars left front end. The pictures don't do it justice, but the insurance adjuster said it was "a total loss." I get attached to things like cars and other inanimate objects like houses and such, but Jerrod has already started shopping! I think I know what I'll be thankful for this Thanksgiving...a happy, healthy, unharmed husband, even if he does have to work all the time!

Residency Graduation
We started the weekend off with Jerrod's Chief's Banquet. It was a ceremony honoring the graduating surgical residents. Dick and Diane were able to come out for the weekend and join us. The reception was held on the 38th floor of the Grand Hyatt downtown Denver. During the meal, a storm blew in and the chandeliers started swaying!! Needless to say, the building didn't come crashing down, and we all had a great time.
It's been quite a journey for the last 5 years. We're ready for the next one to begin in less than 2 weeks! Congratulations, Jerrod! We're all so proud of you!
