Another Ear Infection

Camryn went to bed last night at 7:00 with no arguments! So unlike her. At 8:30 she woke up crying and complaining of an ear ache that hurt in her cheek. Jerrod looked in it with his otoscope and said it was pretty red. I ended up taking her to the Urgent Care Clinic at 9:00. I wanted to get her started on medication so she could go on her class field trip to Color Me Mine (a paint your own pottery studio) this morning. She was feeling much better this morning and I'm sure she loved painting her plate!

Boogers

Carson was sitting on the couch next to me. He was quiet and I looked over to see why. He was playing with something on his finger. I asked him what it was. He quietly said, "Booder." I took it from him and said, "Yuck! Boogers are yucky!" He got mad and yelled, "No, my Booder!" He's all boy!

Getting Dressed

Carson is a typical 2 year-old. He wants to do everything for himself..."MY DO IT!" He has been working on dressing himself lately. He often gets both feet in the same leg or stands up after getting both feet in the right holes, but can't figure out how to pull them up when he's standing on them. It makes for great entertainment.

We went to the doctor this afternoon after several sleepless nights and grumpy days. Carson has another ear infection. The only good thing about it in his eyes, is that now he gets bubble gum medicine! Yummy!

I Tarzan, You Mommy

Carson has the cutest way of saying his own name. He can't pronounce his "C's" yet, so it sounds like "Tarsan." We always ask him to say his name and he says, "Tarsan!" We ask him if he's Tarzan and he yells "YEAH!" Too cute!

Easy Baker

Camryn and I made our first Easy Bake creation on Monday. It was a funfetti layer cake...Yum!

This One Goes Out to Our Friends and Family in Frigid Iowa

We went and played at one of our favorite parks today. It was 61 in Denver and is supposed to be that warm until next Tuesday! I miss you all, but I have to say, I'm glad I'm out here now.

A Lashing from a 2 Year-Old

Carson was being such a crazy, wild man last night at dinner. He was throwing utensils and food and making a huge mess. Jerrod and I tried to enforce some kind of order and got told off by Carson. He yelled a bunch of jibberish and then yelled, "chichen...hotda!" (translation: chicken...hot dog!) Luckily those are the worst words he could think of!! We're in trouble!

That's My Daddy!

Carson was eating breakfast and could see the TV from the kitchen. Willard Scott was doing his Smucker's Birthday list when a 100 year-old bald guy came up. Carson yelled out, "Daddy!" I guess this residency thing is really starting to take its toll on Jerrod.

Back Blogging

My mom asked for more pictures, so I'm adding some pictures from the recent past...Christmas to the present. The truth is, I really don't take many pictures because I'm not good at it, and the kids never hold still long enough! These are for you, Mom!
This is Carson with hair!
Notice how only the top half of the tree is decorated!

You're supposed to be decorating the house, not eating it, Camryn!

That's What Little Brothers Are For

We have an alarm system in our house. When it's set without turning off the motion detector, anyone who goes downstairs sets off the alarm. This morning, Camryn and Carson were on their way down for something and I didn't even think about the alarm. The next thing I know sirens are going off and 2 kids come running up the stairs as white as ghosts. Camryn was petrified to go back down, even though I had already turned the alarm off. So, what does she do...she pushes Carson ahead of her! HA! Poor little guy. Though he doesn't seem to be scared of much. Last night there was a fuzzy on the carpet that looked a lot like a spider. Camryn and I were blowing at it, trying to get it to move. Carson comes along and just picks it up saying, "Pider, yuty!" (translation: "spider, yucky!")

The Hazards of Potty Training

We're still running around naked these days, but now we've moved on to the "big potty!" (Actually I packed up the potty chair in hopes of deterring him for "needing" to potty all the time.) Once I walked into the bathroom and he was playing in the water. The next time, he called me and this is what I found. He called me knowing I would save him, but did I? Nope, I ran for the camera. I couldn't pass up the opportunity. What a wild man!!

The Tale of...Carson at the Movies

There's a reason kids 3 and under are free to get into the movies. You couldn't pay ME enough to take Carson to the movies again! We were invited to go see "The Tale of Despereaux" with a friend of Camryn's from preschool this afternoon. Being the trooper I am, (I'll try anything once) I decide to take Carson along with us. It was The Movie Tavern so there would be food and ice cream for distraction. Wrong! What a disaster! At one point he actually face planted into the built-in cup holders on the chair we were sharing. From now on, we'll stick to outings where Carson can run free...like the zoo!

Talking the Talk

Camryn and I played a round of Wii Golf tonight. She teed off and ended up in the rough. It's so funny the language they understand and how they interpret things. She said, "Hey, I'm in the ruffles!"

"I Don't Want to Play..."

...I just want to sit on the potty all day!" Two of the kids I watch during the day are potty training, so we got out the potty seat yesterday. Between the 2 days, Carson has had pants on for a total of about 5 (waking) hours! Tonight at bedtime, I tried to put a diaper on him and the flood gates burst! How do you tell a 2 year-old they can't go potty anymore?

Elderberry Jelly

Carson has a strange way of eating many things. For instance, when I give him a piece of toast with jelly, he bites it from the top, not the sides. . No wonder he's such a scrawn!
Thank you, Grandpa Rich, for sending the homemade Elderberry Jelly!

Really...at bedtime?

Camryn and Carson bicker and argue all day long, like cats and dogs, like husband and wife, like...well, brother and sister! As soon as I try to get one thing done, one of them is picking on the other one. Carson usually antagonizes Camryn, and she's such an easy target! Last night, they chose bedtime to start getting along. Jerrod and I both didn't have the heart to make them stop playing so nicely together. They got an extra 15 minutes and so did we!
