Camping

Summer slipped away so quickly, we never got a chance to take the kids camping.  Jerrod had to round this weekend, but we decided to go anyway.  We headed out to Raccoon Creek State Park and set up camp.  To our surprise, the campground was empty!  We found a great spot and claimed it.  We then took a hike to the fishing and swimming spot.

Camryn was the only one who caught a couple Sunfish.  She was totally creeped out by them!  So much so that she wanted Jerrod or me to hold on to her so the fish wouldn't pull her in if she caught one!  HAHA!!  Look how tiny it is!  At one point she confessed that she thought there were alligators in the water.

S'mores
We had a perfect spot, great weather and a lot of fun just being together until...

After we all laid down around 10, the kids fell asleep and our neighbors moved in at 11.  The whole campground was basically empty, yet these 4 people chose to set up right next to us, start a fire and proceed to talk and keep Jerrod and me awake the entire night!  They finally pulled out at 6:50am!  Seriously, where was their mother?  How rude!  Besides sleep, nothing else was missing from our trip.  We had a lot of fun!

Lip Gloss

Carson was using a carrot stick or cucumber slice to apply Ranch Dressing (lip gloss)!  Gross!!

Second Grade

When did this happen?  She looks so old...

What's For Breakfast?

If Carson were in charge of our menus this is what we would have for EVERY SINGLE meal!  Saturday morning I asked him, "Carson what do you want for breakfast?"  His reply, "Easy Mac!"  It's Saturday and I don't feel like arguing...

Ear Piercing

Camryn came downstairs this morning, and the first words out of her mouth were, "Mom, I want to get my ears pierced"  So, we headed to Claire's this evening.  She was so excited!  She kept her hair pulled back so everyone could see!

Good Friends

Friday we had fun at the park with a friend of Camryn's from school.  Nate and Camryn have been in class together for kindergarten and 1st grade and will be for 2nd grade too!  It works out nicely because Nate has a little brother, Jakob, who is 1 day younger than Carson!  We played at Blue Slide Park for several hours.  Here they are taking a knock-knock jokes and riddles break.  Nate has his "button" up for Camryn to push if she gives up.  So cute!

Blog Overload!

Be prepared.  I just figured out our new camera and how to upload to YouTube!  Lots of new posts!

Flashback Friday

I found this video in my YouTube account.  I had forgotten all about it.  Look how calm Carson used to be!  This is from his 2nd birthday.

Summer Dreamer's Finale

Wednesday was Camryn's last day of Summer's Dreamer's Academy.  Overall, I'd say it was a great experience for her.  She learned to play the cello, dissected an owl's stomach, met new friends, earned cool prizes and learned a few Jackson 5 songs!  She would come home singing this song everyday!  I think it's hilarious that this is what a bunch of kindergarten-2nd graders worked on for 4 weeks!  Here she is singing it out!

Junior Pirates

My dad rode back with us from Iowa and stayed for the week.  We put him to work fixing our patio chairs.  Carson enjoyed using the drill and painting with Grandpa Rich.

I love the view of downtown Pittsburgh from PNC Park

Camryn and Carson have both been playing for the Junior Pirates of Squirrel Hill.  Their teams got to walk out on the field before the game.  Jerrod and Dad had a hard time finding us.  We are somewhere in the first 30 or so people on the left.

Carson absolutely loves water!  He can keep himself entertained with any kind of water for hours.  He and Alex had a lot of fun at Aunt Jenny's squirting each other and Molly, the dog.

The Sights Near Preston

Lanesboro is a town close to Preston.  We found a neat waterfall/dam and stream for the kids to play in.

Moving Day

The last weekend in July we had a practice run moving day.  We helped move Dick and Diane from Britt to Preston, MN.  The kids were able to spend 2 days with Grandma Dottie on Aunt Jenny's farm while we packed the U-Haul.  We picked them up the next evening and headed to the new house.  After unloading and unloading and unloading, we came home to Pittsburgh and I started "unloading" things from our house in preparation for our move in 10 months.  (Destination still unknown!)  The DAV is getting to know our address by heart.
All packed up and ready to go.  Good-bye Iowa.

Uncle Tyson and the kids "helping" with the move!

Whew!  That was hard work!

Super Hero Day

Through the Pittsburgh Public Schools, Camryn has been able to participate in Summer Dreamer's Academy.  It was a 4 1/2 week-long program that ran from 8:30-4 everyday!  During the 2nd to last week, they had a spirit week.  Thursday was Super Hero Day, and Camryn decided to go as Underdog.
